A. FOR THOSE INSTALLING V11 FOR THE FIRST TIME

A.1 V11 will not install on XP or Vista

A.2. Installing and Uninstalling

(a) You need to be Administrator to install 12d Model.
(b) You can have both a 32-bit and a 64-bit V11 on your computer at the same time.
(c) A new V11 32/64 can't be installed if there is already a matching V11 32/64 on your computer.

The V11 Installer will check for an existing matching V11 32/64 and if one exists, displays the version number and asks if you want to Uninstall it.

If you say No then the V11 Install will terminate.

(d) The Uninstall will not delete any of the training material loaded into 12d\11.0\training and 12d\11.0\courses.

The V11 Install (32 bit and 64 bit) will overwrite any files of the same name in these areas.

Important Note - the Uninstaller deletes everything in the 12d V11 folders in Program files so definitely do not modify any of those files. Any modified files go in User or User_Lib.

A.3 Dongles Supported

(a) Hardlock dongles are not supported in V11
(b) 12d Field is only available in V11 for CodeMeter dongles.

A.4 Dongle Drivers

If you are using a Wibu dongle, then the Wibu drivers need to be at least Wibu 6.1 or above.
If you are using a CodeMeter dongle for the first time, then you will need to install the CodeMeter dongle drivers.
New Wibu drivers and CodeMeter drivers can be installed with:
download  - right-click your mouse & select "Save Target As"

A.5 Network Dongle Notes

For notes on installing Network CodeMeteres or Network Wibu, download the appropriate installation PDF.
(a) Network CodeMeters: download  - right-click your mouse & select "Save Target As"
(b) Network Wibu: download  - right-click your mouse & select "Save Target As"

A.6 Certifying CodeMeters

The CodeMeter dongle needs to be Certified over the Internet before it can be used and then after every two months so you need to have access to the Internet for the first time you start up 12d Model 11, and then every two months. There is an env variable AUTO_CERTIFY_DONGLE_4D to let the dongle automatically certify when required.
Please contact your 12d Reseller if you have problems.

A.7 Copying User, User_Lib and env.4d to V11

(a) User contains your files that are to replace those that 12d installs in Set_ups (e.g. names.4d, linestyl.4d) and you will probably want that to also happen for V11.

In V10, the default place for User is c:\12d\10.00\User but it could also be pointed to by the environment variable USER_4D.
You need to create a new User folder for V11 and copy to it any files that you want for V11.
You may need to copy the whole of User to the new area.
The default place for V11 User is c:\12d\11.00\User but if USER_4D was used to point to your V10 User then you need to change USER_4D in env.4d to point to your V11 User

(b) User_Lib contains your own library files and you will probably also want them for V11.
In V10 the default place for User_Lib is c:\12d\10.00\User_lib but it could also be pointed to by the environment variable USER_LIB_4D.
You need to create a new User_Lib folder for V11 and copy to it any library files that you want for V11.
You may need to copy the whole of User_Lib to the new area.
The default place for V11 User_Lib is c:\12d\11.00\User_Lib but if USER_LIB_4D was used to point to your V10 User_Lib then you need to change USER_LIB_4D in env.4d to point to your V11 User_Lib

(c) Are you using a Network Dongle ?
If you are using a 12d network dongle then env.4d contains the environment variable to tell 12d Model that it has to search for a network dongle, and possibly which computer it is on.
So for the network case you definitely need to copy your V10 env.4d to the V11 User.

E. SPECIAL INFORMATION
E.1 ADAC Schema Help Files
(a) 12d-ADAC Documentation
The 12d-ADAC doco is included in the What's New and the Reference manual but here is a pdf of it on its own.
download - right-click your mouse & select "Save Target As"

(b) ADAC Schema
The ADAC Schema is controlled and issued by the IPWEA.

The ADAC Schema is a chm file and these files are often blocked by email and download systems.
So there is also a link to the chm file renamed as a .txt file - after the download, it needs to be renamed to ending in .chm.

chm files usually don't work across a network so need to be on your local computer.

ADAC 4.1 Help File - chm file
download  - right-click your mouse & select "Save Target As"

ADAC 4.1 Help File - chm file renamed as txt
download  - right-click your mouse & select "Save Target As"
Note: the unzipped file needs the .txt changed to .chm

If the ADAC chm file will not display, the problem may be the Windows 7 security.
The fix is in the Properties - You need to right click on the file for properties and change the settings to unblock.

(c) ADAC Guidelines For the Creation and Submission of ADAC XML Files
The ADAC Guidelines are being produced by the Authorities requesting ADAC.XML files to give further guidance on what ADAC Assets are required for that Authority and more information about hat is required for that Asset at the Authority.

(i) Guidelines for Bundaberg, Gladstone and Rockhampton
